Detail of the ceramics “alfardo”
Also known as the Grandmother’s room, in Duchess Maria Enriquez’s honour, Saint Francis’ grandmother.

This space is part of a tower, which it is thought was the centre of the palace, in other words, the oldest part. We can observe the spiral staircase on one side and a window opposite which overlooks the Cistern Courtyard. It is of huge interest the wonderful 14th or 15th century Arab paving “alfardó". The hexagonal extended piece decorated in blue and white glaze is composed of a mosaic and a little quadrangular piece.

In the same room, we can gaze at various altarpieces, one in gothic style and the other in renaissance style reminding us of the Joan de Joanes' style.
